The main house, built in 1936 by well-known Southern California architect Austen McKevett, creates the setting for this small residential remodel project. The owners wanted to maximize their accessory dwelling unit option allowed by the local zoning code. The design challenge required the creation of a balance between a functionally and visually modern addition and a classic Spanish-style Southern California home.
